Machine Setup
These are the settings that decide what the machine is, rather than what it is cutting today. They are entered when the machine is built or commissioned, and a wrong value here does not announce itself: the machine runs, and every part comes out to the wrong size. The person cutting the part never opens these pages.
- Axes & Channels: the two places a machine’s settings live, and which belongs where.
- Gantry & Coupled Axes: driving one axis from another, and how the pair learns what square is.
- Protection Zones: declaring the obstacles inside the travel, so no move can reach them.
- Backlash Compensation: taking up lost motion at a reversal.
- Leadscrew Compensation: correcting an axis from a measured error table.
- Volumetric Compensation: correcting the machine as a solid rather than one axis at a time.
- Cycle Program Templates: the file that decides what a cycle program compiles to.
- External Program Selection: selecting a program by scanning a label.
- Multiple Channels: a machine that runs more than one program at once.
- Access Levels: who may change what, and how a level is entered.
